YFU Lithuania offers not only living in different areas of our small, but wonderful country, to the inbound students - there is also a basketball program that we offer. Lithuania is known as a basketball country - we believe that exchange students should also be a part of it!

There are many art schools, where exchange students can paint, dance, play musical instruments or sing.? Maybe you have other ideas and/ or dreams that you would like to fulfil? You are welcome to write to contact YFU Lithuania at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or your national YFU organisation and we will do our best to accommodate you requests!

Our volunteers, who take care of inbound students, offer autumn (fall) trip to all inbound students, taking them all around the country. At the same time, YFU Lithuania offers a Baltic trip during spring vacation, giving students a possibility to meet and greet both volunteers and inbound students in Latvia and Estonia.

Each exchange student has two mentors - a senior and a junior one - helping him/ her overcome all possible difficulties in our country. Senior mentor usually keeps in touch with a host family and school, while the ? junior mentor mainly communicates with the student.

During your exchange programme YFU Lithuania will invite you to several meetings and seminars:

Post-arrival Orientation (PAO)

The representative of YFU Lithuania will meet you at the airport in Vilnius. From the airport you will be taken to the PAO, which lasts 3 days. After these days you will be introduced to your host family.
Your exchange year in Lithuania starts with the? PAO, where you have a great opportunity to meet the other exchange students as well as returnees, having spent the previous school year abroad.? Classes of the Lithuanian language, history and culture will be organised. You will also be advised about your school, free time activities and how to make the best out? of your exchange year. During this? camp you will also get to know the volunteers of YFU Lithuania - they can always come up with something exciting.

Mid-year Orientation

A 2-3 day Mid-year orientation will take place at the end of January/ at the beginning of February. This will help you evaluate the first semester of your exchange year and plan your upcoming semester in Lithuania. You will meet YFU volunteers and other exchange students - we will focus on the Lithuanian culture and society and, most importantly, your own situation as an exchange student. You will be able to indicate all the problems you encountered during your experience, to share all best practices with the other exchange students and to set your aims for the better success of your remaining time in Lithuania.

Re-entry Orientation

A 3 day- Re-entry orientation will take place in June, about two weeks before your return home. This will help you evaluate all your exchange year and prepare for coming back home. This orientation will take place together with the Pre-departure orientation for the Lithuanian students, preparing to go on exchange - a great opportunity to share your own experiences with them!

„Turėjau nuostabius mokslo metus, tokioje visiškai priešingoje šalyje. Aplankiau daugybę miestų, susipažinau su daug žmonių, skirtingų tradicijų ir kultūrų priėmiau į savo vidų. Džiaugiuosi, kad yra tokia galimybė pažinti svetimas kultūras ir daug ko išmokti. Ačiū!“
