YFU Lithuania offers a wonderful chance to experience what it means to play basketball is our country - A country, which calls basketball its second religion. A country, which that has many medals on European and world levels. A country, which brings up some of the most wanted basketball players in the NBA and rest of the world!

We offer not only to find a host family and school for an exchange student, but also enrol him/ her into a basketball school of the level that student already is! The sport school will be in the same area as student's host family and secondary school. Once in a while sport school will take teams to play games against other schools, sometimes even in other cities. It actually is an experience of a certain culture!

During 31 August - 18 September 2011 Lithuania will hold the European basketball championship, universally referred to as EuroBasket 2011. This will be the second time Lithuania has hosted the Eurobasket and the first since the restoration of its independence in 1990. Lithuania has also hosted the 1939 European Basketball Championship. During EuroBasket2011, 90 matches will be played in 6 largest Lithuanian cities: Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Alytus.

If on a basketball programme, the student has to pay a monthly enrolment fee directly to the school or, if the student wishes, he/ she can transfer the payment to YFU Lithuania, and we will take care of forwarding it to the basketball school. . Prices swing between 30 and 60 Euros per month. The total training duration is 10 months and it is also possible to participate in additional training camps!
